About
About the festival
An annual, three-day celebration of jazz in Guyana — produced by the Guyana Jazz Festival Foundation Inc, a non-profit.
The festival
The Guyana Jazz Festival™ is a three-day musical event that welcomes jazz lovers from around the world each year. The festival showcases spectacular music at several venues. World-famous, delicious Guyanese food and international cuisine are available at our food court, and craft artisans from all over Guyana and abroad are invited to attend and meet our visitors.
In the week before the festival, from Sunday to Thursday, there are small concerts at resorts and venues in Georgetown, Linden and Corriverton. The main festival days are Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Georgetown.
Dates, line-up and venues will be announced on this site.
Our cause
The Guyana Jazz Festival™ supports three causes in Guyana:
- Orphanages. Guyana's orphanages survive on donations, and in tough economic times it is simply not enough. There is barely enough for food and clothing, and much more is needed — including making the buildings accessible for children with disabilities.
- Mental health. Supporting mental health care and the people and organisations who provide it.
- Abused women and children. Supporting women and children who have suffered abuse, and the organisations that protect and care for them.
Green festival
The Guyana Jazz Festival™ coordinates greening efforts to keep the festival's environmental footprint to a minimum — from setting up recycling centres to meeting fans in our on-site Eco-Villages. Our efforts include:
- Waste reduction and recycling backstage
- Non-toxic cleaners and post-consumer recycled bathroom tissue at all venues
- Reusable water bottles for bands and crew, to reduce plastic bottle waste
- Biodegradable and compostable catering products, including potato- and corn-based utensils, bowls and cups
- Carbon offsets for emissions from touring vehicles, air travel, hotel stays and venue energy use
- Working with concert venues to help them become greener
